According to EEC Directive 98/37,
known as the “Machine Directive”, the main drive
shaft transmissions that connect the tractor to
the machine meet safety requirements if they bear the CE
mark and are supplied with a Use and Maintenance Manual
containing a Conformity Declaration. Non-primary
transmissions, i.e. those built into the machine, need not
bear
the CE mark since they are included in the machine manual.
As per EEC Directive 98/37, drive shafts must be protected
on the tractor side, on the driven machine side and over
the
entire length of the shaft and U-joints.
On the machine side a guard (counter-cone) should protect
the power takeoff to ensure that the drive shaft can be
assembled and articulate. This also guarantees (in accordance
with standard EN 1553) at least a 50 mm overlap with the
aligned drive shaft guard cone.
For Comer Industries S.p.A., safety has always been and
continues to be one of the most important design and
construction parameters of products that are built in compliance
with ISO and ASAE standards and EEC safety directives.
